Laconia Lions Create Scholarship Fund

The Harrison County Community Foundation announces the creation of another charitable endowment.  The LACONIA LIONS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP FUND was established in December 2009 to provide scholarship support to graduating seniors of South Central Junior-Senior High School. Boone Township graduates will be given priority, but all graduating South Central seniors are eligible to apply.  The creation of this scholarship fund has been a goal of the LACONIA LIONS CLUB since its inception in July 2005.  After many successful fundraisers over the years, including euchre and horseshoe tournaments, gift-basket raffles, annual oyster dinner served during Celebrate Laconia and, most recently, a raffle for an all-terrain vehicle, the scholarship fund has become a reality.  “The club members are thankful to the many individuals and businesses for their support. We look forward to awarding the first scholarship to a 2010 South Central graduating senior” Gary King, Laconia Lions Club president, said. Anyone interested in contributing to this fund or any other endowment fund at the Foundation should contact the Harrison County Community Foundation at (812) 738-6668 or by e-mail staff@hccfindiana.org.  For more information about the HCCF, visit its Web site at www.hccfindiana.org.
