Just follow the sign off of Hwy 60. The cost is $8 Adult and $4 child for a delicious meal of barbecue chicken, baked beans, cole slaw, homemade dessert and drink. Time is from noon to supper. Please come and support this club in their efforts to raise funds for the community. The attachment gives more details.

He will then join the long list of PDGS’. DG Steve will still have duties as a PDG, but he will also have more time visiting his daughter, grandchildren …and playing with his trains! 
     DG Steve and (wife/secretary) Gerry have toured Indiana from east to west and north to south. And his job will continue visiting District 25-E2 Clubs until June 30, 2010. We all look forward to visits from DG Steve. He has much information to share with our Clubs.
     There are still many jobs to be accomplished in District 25-E2 before June 30, 2010. Mentoring of clubs; rebuilding clubs; increasing membership; personal appearances; State Convention in South Bend, Indiana. Region, Zone Chairpersons, and Guiding Lions will also continue their visits, keeping all clubs up-to-date on what needs to be done. i.e., club elections and that “wonderful” PU-101 which is very important.  
     One new club has been organized in District 25-E2 this year. (Georgetown Lions Club) Hopefully, there will be another before the end of the year. If not, there will be one in 2010 – 2011. If you have an idea of a good location to form a new Lions Club contact your Region Chair or District Governor so they may pass the information along to the MERL team.  
     Have you ever visited a club just to show your support? Think about it! Your directory lists all clubs, their officers and meeting night. Take at least 2 other Lions with you and earn 150 Points for your club as well as having a fun evening with other Lions.  
     Support other Lions Projects! I don’t know about you but I am already looking forward to the start of Lions Club Pancake Breakfasts; Fish Fries; Booths at the
Fairs; Golf Scrambles, and much more. Be sure to let me know what Fund Raisers you are planning and I will send it out to all Lions on the E-mail.  
     VDG John Wilcox (Kathy) will take over as District Governor of 25-E2 for the 2010 -2011 term effective July 1, 2010. VDG John will be going to the International Convention in Sydney, Australia (July 1 – 12, 2010) where he will be sworn in as 25-E2 District Governor. As is the Lions way ……. Lions will step forward to help VDG John and the District have a successful 2010 – 2011. District Governor is a very demanding job, just ask any PDG.]]>Mon, 18 Jan 2010 13:35:30 -0800http://www.districte2.com/1/post/2010/01/georgetown-lion-club-charter-night.html     Saturday night we Celebrated the FIRST Lions Club to be Chartered in 25-E2, for 2010.  THE GEORGETOWN LIONS CLUB.
     There were 40 members and officers installed.  The ceremony took place at the Georgetown Christian Church, McClain Family Life Center. A beautiful facility.
     A delicious (really) dinner was served; The Key Family of Paoli provided entertainment; and, of course there was the AUCTION!  Many nice items had been collected by the Georgetown Lions Club members, and as usual, Lions from other clubs brought items to sell.  If you see  DG Steve Porenski, or Lion President Jim Galbreath, be sure to ask them how much $$ it cost them to get their license plate back.  Also, ask PDG Herb Stevens what it cost to get his car keys back. 
     Have you ever bought a raisin pie that cost $45.00?  Since Lion Doris Bliss of the New Middletown Lions Club baked it, I'm sure it was delicious.  You can ask Lion Sonny Eve how it tasted.
     PDG Charlie Crawford brought one of his handmade ink pens for auction.  The shaft was made out of a 75 year old tobacco stick.  Lion Brian Hawkins of the Paoli-Meridian Lions Club bought the pen for $60.00.  How does it write, Brian? 
     Lions Betty Cole and her sister, Helen, from the Central Lions Club had crochet 50 multi-colored Lion heads to pin on your shirt, jacket, etc.  They sold all 50 at $2.00 each and donated the $100.00 sale to the Georgetown Lions Club.
     Tail Twisters were Reg. Chair. Liz Funk, Lion Fred Wattula (Crandall Lions Club) and Lion Kathy Haller of the Georgetown Lions Club.  They were tough, but raised $$ for the new club.
     PDG Mark Clark was the speaker and the auctioneer!  Who but a lawyer can talk so long?  HA HA (Sincerely, PDG Mark did a wonderful job as speaker and auctioneer.) 
PDG Herb Stevens was MC and did his usual terrific job, as did a number of other behind-the-scene Lions.
      Zone Chair, Elmer Kidd and Lion Chloe Kidd will be Guiding Lions 2 years for this new club. Great things are expected from the Georgetown Lions Club.  They are a FUN group and will have a good time serving their Community.

"I attended a meeting of the Georgetown Lions last night and they are ready and excited about their upcoming Jan 16 Charter Night. A good and great time is planned for all! The Jan newsletter has a reservation form and I have also attached one to this email. I want to call to your attention one thing. Reservations for dinner must be made by this coming Saturday Jan 9. The reason is that they are using an outside caterer and must inform them of the precise number attending by Jan 9. So, talk with your clubs by phone, meeting, etc decide how many of you are coming and call Marlene Adams, club secretary, at (812) 923-5202 by this Saturday, Jan 9. You can pay at the door but if you don't show, you will be responsible for the $12.50 per head meal cost as the club will already have paid for your meal. Thanks and see you there."

C - Vision screening
D - Provided Weatherization and helped the salvation army
E-1 - Eye screening
E-2 - Breakfast with Santa
F - Food drive/Eye glass collection
G - New restroom at park / gave 3rd graders dictionaries
B - Leos burn unit project
 
Of course there are many more projects that I have not heard about in both Lion and Leo Clubs. Please take a look at the application and if you qualify, no matter how large or small your project, take the time to apply.

Below is an e-mail that was sent on Nov. 4 from Lion Sam Hopper, Clara's husband.  Both are members of the Floyd Knobs Lions Club.  Lion Clara recently had recently had open heart surgery.

"Yesterday was a long day at the hospital.  The surgery seems to have went very well and Clara is in the 5th floor post-operative heart and lung care unit now with limited visitation.  The family got to see her for about 10 minutes at a time at three different times during the day and each time you could see her noticeable improvement.  If all goes well she will be moved to the 7th or 8th floor today, where she'll be in a private/semi-private room and longer visitation is permitted.  A five or six day hospital stay is expected."
