Peace Poster Dates 11/04/2009
The Peace Poster contest judging is coming up. Here are the deadlines: 1) Have your entries in to me by November 15. 2) I will take them on an official visit and have a club judge them. 3) I will send the winning entry to our Council Chair for multiple District judging by December 1. I received cards from Winslow saying they will have 15 entries and from New Albany saying they will have four entries. If any others are coming, please let DG Steve know. Thanks for participating! The Ramsey Lions Club is having their major fund raiser Sunday, November 1st. It is a turkey shoot at the Old Davis Hatchery and Farm located south of Ramsey about 1 mile on the Corydon Ramsey Road. Just take State Road 64 to Ramsey and turn south on Corydon Ramsey Road. The shoot will start about 11:00am and will continue until we run out of shooters. Chili, Hot dogs and desserts will be for sale. Annual Christmas Party 10/08/2009
The Paoli Meridian Lions Club will be hosting the Annual Christmas Party at the Bearcat Civic Center this year on December 12, 2009 at 7:00 PM. Any club in the district is welcome to participate. There will be lots of good food, fellowship and holiday cheer. The meal will be a pitch in dinner. Please contact PDG Nancy Lambert and let her know if your club will be attending and what food items your club would like to provide. The Paoli Club will provide the meat. Regions 3 and 4, Second Region/Zone Meeting is scheduled for October 12, 2009, beginning at 6:30pm. The Ramsey Lions Club will be hosting this meeting at Unity Chapel Methodist Church, 1760 Lost Creek Road, Ramsey, IN. Leo President and computer Guru, Tyler Best will explain the NEW HORIZONS available to all Lions Clubs via the Internet. This meeting is for ALL LIONS to attend. LEOS ARE WELCOME. 3+ club members in attendance will receive points for their club - and - Presidents and Secretaries receive credit for the 100% pin. There will be no formal club reports, but anyone wishing to announce an upcoming club activity or project will be given the opportunity to do so. There will be a delicious meal served for a $10.00 charge. Please RSVP by OCTOBER 8th to Region Chair Liz Funk by called her at (812) 633-4254. DG Steve encourages all our clubs to participate in the Peace Poster Contest. We will judge the finished posters at our Oct 17 Fall Convention in Evansville. Time is short to get the needed Peace Poster Kit from LCI by October 1. The Peace Poster Contest information is available in our "Files" link in the navigation to the the left of this blog entry. The Winslow Lions Club is holding a fund raiser for ZC Katy Aldridge of Music, Dinner, and an Auction on Saturday, Sept 26, 4:00 PM ET at The Trading Post in Winslow. Please try to attend and bring an Auction item. Those on the east side who cannot attend can send their auction items with DG Steve (stevep623@portative.net). Michael Brock (President of our Bicknell Club) has agreed to take our District's Youth Exchange Chairperson position. Thanks, Mike, for stepping up. This means we will have a Camp Friendship next year. I would like to see our clubs support Camp Friendship by soliciting host families and making financial contributions to this very worthy district project. Banner Night is coming up Saturday, Sept 12. It is at Unity Chapel UMC in Ramsey, IN. Social time begins at 6:00 PM, Opening Ceremony is at 6:30 and meal is served at 7:00. The street address for those of you with GPS is 1760 Lost Creek Rd, Ramsey, IN. Some of the things we will be having for the event: Indiana State Police Color Guard Music by Foxfire Meal of: Tossed Salad & Dressings 2 meats (Roast Beef and lemon or barbecue Chicken) Mashed Potatoes and Brown Gravy Green Beans Corn Desserts (Pies, Cookies & Brownies) Coffee, Tea, soft Drinks (Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite) Slide Show Wonderful speaking At present CT Phyllis has received RSVP from 26 of you.
